San Francisco Food Tour

These are all my personal favorite food places in SF from the ~1 year I’ve lived here. Hope you guys enjoy!

Note: The average SF food prices are 15–25$ USD. So it’s pretty rare to find food (McDonalds doesn’t count as real food) under 10–15$, which is pretty common in Canada.

Korean

Review: A bit on the expensive side for Korean food, but the food itself is like very high quality. Portions are a bit small so if you don’t get appetizers, you won’t leave full, but you won’t leave hungry. You’ll leave like just satisfied.

Must Try: I recommend getting the pork belly dinner ($21)! You 100% won’t feel hungry after eating this, but its a bit pricey.

Price: Expect to spend around 13–18$.

Location: Glen Park

Korean BBQ

Review: This place just opened up during my 2nd internship in San Francisco. Located in the inner sunset district. This place is all you can eat. One thing I did notice is that this place gives you way more side dishes than you need, to the point where there will be no place to put the actual kbbq meats on the table. The owner and servers were very nice and wholesome people, and genuinely try to make your kbbq experience as best as possible.

Must Try: Their thinly sliced pork belly is amazing! (Its AYCE so you can basically try everything 👌)

Price: Expect to pay around 25–30$ for AYCE, depending what day/time you go.

Location: Inner Sunset

Ramen

Review: Its a super small cozy shop that gives you the authentic Japanese ramen shop vibes. This place is literally the best ramen I’ve had anywhere in the world (though that’s probably going to change when I go to Japan next year).

It’s usually at least a 1 hour lineup, so plan to come early. The good thing is that you don’t have to wait in line the entire time, you can just leave your phone number and they will call you when your spot is ready. Its also right beside Golden Gate Park so you can take a stroll there while you wait.

Must Try: I had the ritsu tonkatsu ramen (which is like the only ramen they have). Also, a must try is the fried braised pork belly as an add on to your ramen. The pork belly is so soft and tender and juicy, but also crispy on the outside because it is fried, which makes for the ultimate combination.

Price: It’s pretty cheap for a really hype restaurant. Expect to spend around $13-$20.

Location: Inner Sunset

Mexican

Review: This is my personal favorite Mexican place. Their burritos are insanely cheap, like <10$. Their burritos are also massive, like 1–2 lbs. Also every meal comes with free tortilla chips and salsa! I always leave feeling satisfied and full.

Must Try: Their “Burrito Super” is amazing. Also their “Huevos Revolutos” is really good if you're looking for a plate (I may or may not have spelled that dish wrong…).

Price: Expect to spend around 10$ or less.

Location: Glen Park

Note: Shoutout also to El Faralito, as it is the place that most SF’ers will tell you when you ask them what the best buritto place is

Thai

Review: This place has incredible value for the price. Don’t like the lack of upscale interior deter you from the great food they have. Most of their meals are sub 10$, and they taste just as good, if not better, than other Thai places that cost +15$.

Must Try: Pad See Ew

Price: Expect to spend around 12$ or less

Location: Glen Park

Brunch

Review: This is the probably one of the most hyped and most popular brunch places in SF. There’s always a +1.5 hour lineup on weekends, so if you plan on coming for lunch, be sure to get here early!

Must Try: I had the Ribeye Omurice (18$) when I was there and it was sooo goood 😫

Price: Expect to spend around 15–25$

Location: The Castro

Indian

Review: This was my go to restaurant for Indian food in SF. Note, the dishes don’t come with rice so you have to pay for that separately. Also naan is an add on as well.

Must Try: The classic dish of butter chicken is always a good bet.

Price: ~15–20$

Location: Noe Valley
