I went to Massachusetts and visited my dream college

On Thursday August 8th I went on the longest road trip I have ever been on in a car. I was departing from Buffalo, WNY and my destination was Cambridge Massachusetts. Between the two it was about a six hour ride, I didn’t mind I love being on the road in the dead of night something about it is calming yet adrenaline pumping. During the six hours that I was in the car I listened to the full 50 minutes of the musical Hamilton sound track, it was amazing. While listening to music I would look out the window and peek inside the car driving next to us and look at the driver then positively judged the driver in my head, I had a grand time. The first few hours were taken up by my music listening and looking out the window after the few hours it had turned evening and I was bored. I decided to lay down and asked my parents if they could open up the sun roof so I could look at the stars, there were none out but it was still enjoyable looking at the blank dark sky laid out above me like that.

We stopped at a rest stop to go to the restroom which I strongly had to do and quick. After I relived myself I then realized I was parched, we ordered Tim Hortons and I got an Ice Cap which was very sweet and cold. After laying back down and getting comfortable in my car I grabbed my phone and read a couple medium articles on here then got on Snapchat to respond to some snaps I had left open. My eyelids got heavy and I had drifted into sleep. I woke up at about one in the morning and we had just crossed the state line and Massachusetts welcomed us. We had stopped again for food, I just got chicken tenders which were undercooked so decided not to eat them and just lay quietly in the back of the car and enjoyed the rest of the ride.

That evening we stayed at a “Bed and Breakfast” which was my first time. Did I like it? It was decent but I probably wouldn’t do it again. Nothing else interesting happened that night.

When morning came I staggered around because I am not a morning person even if it was ten in the morning. After a couple minutes I got into the shower and let the water wake me up. We soon left the bed and breakfast and let me just tell you the heat was suffocating once we stepped out.

Soon after we had arrived at Harvard University admissions and visiting center. The building was big and beautiful, it looked like an antique building. We had a tour of Harvard and the campus at one in the afternoon. When we got up to the check in desk we had asked where our tour would start, the desk assistant said that it had been canceled and that most tours in that week had also been canceled because the students who were supposed to give the tours went home for the summer at last minute. The desk assistant had suggested a tour the next day at 10 in the morning, we took the opportunity and decided to walk around the campus a bit independently. We had also went to “the coop” (basically the school store for Harvard). When I first stepped in I was breath taken at how much Harvard merchandise that I was surrounded by. Three floors of Harvard merchandise, there was so much to look at. After about an hour and a half in the coop I had walked out of the store with a T-shirt, a book about stories of how students got into Harvard and tips to help you, a book mark, a flag representing Harvard, and more that I can’t remember at the moment. After the store we went to go find a hotel to stay at for the night, we found a Comfort Inn close to Harvard. I decided to lay down and open up my book and read a few chapters. I took a nap and woke up an hour later and by the time I did wake up it was dinner time.

We had a debate on where we should go and settled for Olive Garden. I had chicken parmesan which was delicious. After dinner we went to Target to get some water and snacks for the hotel room. I got some beef jerky, it’s my all time favorite snack. When we got back to the hotel room I was beat. I did my nightly routine, I took my hair down and brushed it and then put it back up in a lazy bun. I put on my pajamas which are basically just spandex and a T-shirt. After all that I got into bed and was on my phone until one or two in the morning I lost track of time, I was talking to someone who I’ve been talking to now for a couple of months we got into a very deep conversation. Soon after I put my phone down and covered up. Something unfortunate but funny happened. Sadly the bed was just a bit too short for me, I’m about 5’8 ish. Then again the beds were weirdly shorter than usually. So I just comprised and put a pillow between my legs and curled up and fell asleep. I woke up once to get a water from the fridge because my throat was dry.

I heard a alarm go off at eight in the morning I was debating on wether to get up and take a shower or not, but my body told me to hold off and go back to sleep, so I obeyed. I woke up again at nine in the morning, I got in the shower and got ready quickly. By the time everyone was ready it was nine forty five, we only had fifteen minutes to get to the grand hall where the tour would begin. It was a twenty two minute drive. We were close to the grand hall so we parked in a payed parking area and caught a taxi to the grand hall.

Even though we were twenty minutes late we did not miss the tour just part of the information session. The information session was in a beautiful huge room, the room was where usually Harvard students have lectures or classes so you could only imagine how big it was because it had to fit at least around 1,300 students in the room. I observed the room well the three students were talking about requirements and what Harvard is looking for and what you can be looking forward to. The whole room was lit by a huge crystal chandelier. The room had two statues in the front of the room which were also beautiful. On the ceiling was Italian writing, lots of it. After the information session it was time for the tour.

Everyone in the room had gotten split up into manageable groups. Our tour guides name was Rosie, she was a very good tour guide with lots of energy. We stopped a lot, slowly learning about every monument on Harvard campus. Our last stop was at the freshman dorms where I will hopefully be in a few years. Everyone was very helpful and very nice. I got a few pictures which I liked lots and even got to touch John Harvard’s lucky foot. The statue is all copper but his left and right foot are rubbed off and a silver color due to visitors touching his foot for luck!

After the tour we got ice cream and relaxed in the sun. After we walked around down town Massachusetts and ate at IHOP for lunch. We went to the coop also one last time where I had only got a notebook for this coming school year.

After we walked back to our car and drove out of Massachusetts.

When we were walking in downtown Massachusetts earlier in the day I saw a very attractive man who looked exactly like Daveed Diggs.

On the way out of Massachusetts we stopped at a bar that was on the show “Cheers”. I didn’t know what the show was but I agreed to go into the bar it was very nice and fancy. I had a grand time in Massachusetts and visiting my dream college. I’m so happy that I have people in my life that will support me till the end and see what I want and help me achieve it.

A word of advice, if you really want something and it means something to you then you need to keep that with you no matter what anyone says or does to you. You can’t let people put you down of ruin your dreams because really they’re just trying to slow you down or even stop you and you’ll never achieve your dream if you have people in your life like that. You need to surround yourself with people who will be positive towards you and your dreams.
