35. According to Plan

It is the 8th of March, and I’m still doing it. By the way, it’s not so late, it’s barely 21:07 PM. So I have some energy left to write it. Not much, though, since I still feel kind of exhausted. That’s why today I’ll write a rather short entry, and that’ll be it. Let’s go.

The topic is According to Plan. What does it mean? Basically, anything or everything or nothing. On a more serious note, it means my book writing progress goes according to plan. If my estimations are right, I’ll finish the book this week or the next one tops. What does it mean? It means I already wrote two books. From start to finish. Which is nice. Never thought I would finish even one book, actually, but apparently, this time, everything different in my life. Now I have a real goal in front of me, and I won’t stop. Mainly because writing books is kind of therapeutic. Also helps to let your mind go into a state of overdrive and write like a madman. Or something like that.

To be honest, my plan goes like that. I’m finishing the second book and giving it some time to rest, maybe will go through it one more time, tweaking things here and there. Now, I’m not a big fan of the first draft, second draft, and other drafts. I know there are writers who take it very seriously, have a lot of drafts, rewrite whole books, work on them for years and years, and all this jazz, but that’s not me. I’m a professional wannabe writer, so a lot of pressure to be excellent, popular, or consistent is off. I don’t earn my bread and butter with my writing, so this stuff also helps to see it as a much simpler task and process — you either write what you like from the first-second try, or there’s something wrong, and you should try to do it the other way. What can I say — writing should be fun. If it’s not fun, then probably you’re a real writer or doing something wrong.

So, anyway, the main plan right now is to finish the second book. Have a rest and focus on publishing the first one. Also, I’m thinking of going into short stories and poetry (actually already writing poetry since I’m going for a parody thing, and there would probably be at least one poetry book with things having a little bit too much deep meaning). This should give me a short-term boost of dopamine. Like you know — when you finish something fast, you feel like on top of the world. That’s what I’ll try to do. Writing a whole book could be complicated at times, especially when you came up with the plot long before. The second book is a confirmation of that. I came up with the plot, and at some point, it wasn’t as fun as I thought. But I soldiered through, and now it’s fun again. That’s how it goes. And also, as usual — the closer you’re to the end, the less you want this story to end. It’s like you’re still living in this world, knowing its characters, their story, and thoughts and feelings. Yeah, after all, for the last two months, I have been writing about this world. Oh, and also, here’s a little observation from me — King’s method works. If you write at least 2k words per day, there’s literally no chance for you not to finish your book in 3 months (well, if you’re not writing a super-long and super-complicated book, but let’s leave it to the Story of Blah).

Also, I’ve noticed I’m falling asleep again. Apparently, despite the time, when you’re tired, you would love to sleep, and nothing can change it. I just close my eyes, and bam — I’m out. I open them up, and either I wrote some bullshit, or the screen is dark, and I didn’t do anything of use. Also, this explains my strange train of thought. Yeah, so just to sum up: I’m finishing the second book, the time for short stories and poetry came, I’m not a fan of drafts. Yeah, that’s pretty much it, and this entry isn’t too long (still, its longer than I expected it to be in the beginning, apparently no matter how hard I try, I wouldn’t be able to write on Twitter), so it could be even fun to go through with one eye closed.
