Best PS4 controller 2019

The finest alternatives to the trusty DualShock 4.

As you have got to the time in your PlayStation 4 life where the controller is getting a bit old and damaged. So here is a round up of the best alternative Playstation 4 controllers, from the £50 DualShock 4 to the high-end pro gamer controllers from the likes of Razer, Scuf etc. These are in no order but we have marked our thoughts to the best one.

The standard PlayStation 4 controller, wireless control and comfortable in even the smallest of hands, this is my default controller for games like Battlefield. However the analogue sticks do feel stiff compared to the more expensive pro controllers. Newer versions of the controller do allow you to play wired which will reduce latency. But for the under £50 mark this is one PlayStation Controller you cannot go wrong with.

Razer Raiju PlayStation 4 controller tops out the spend at £200 (ouch) however the specs and the interchangeable buttons makes this one of the best controllers out there. The Razer Raiju Ultimate is the wireless PS4 controller that allows advanced customisation via our own mobile app. Whether it’s remapping multi-function buttons or adjusting sensitivity options, you have full control from the palm of your hand. Take it further with interchangeable thumbsticks, and choose either a tilting or individual D-Pad button layout. Enable functions on the fly with a quick control panel, and activate Hair Trigger Mode for quick-firing action. Comes with 3 connectivity modes: PS4, USB and PC without manual repairing for optimal efficiency.

However I have had 3 in the past of the older model and all have failed with left stick drift, which Razer does not seem to acknowledge as a fault. The newer model featured has not had the issue.

Starting from £119 and high customisation to give it your own feel and design. With 4 custom triggers on the rear and adjustable hair triggers. This is the mid-range that we could all be wanting, i have played a while on a friends controller and the feel and weight of the controller felt good. Getting use to the additional triggers takes a while but once mastered this improved my gameplay no end.

This is the updated version of the Nacon Revolution Pro PlayStation 4 controller. I still run this controller for games like Fortnite where I need a quick response and the additional buttons to flick into build mode without releasing the thumbsticks. At a modest £120, this is a solid controller. However, the raised trackpad can get in the way which mid game can cause you to make mistakes.

4 additional buttons and the ability to add weight to the controller as we all play differently the Nacon is worth a look.

If you on a budget, get old trusty DualShock 4 you won’t go wrong. If you have a load of money the Razer or Scuf is a good choice with the Scuf winning on the pure ability to custom the hell out of it.
